I would like to introduce
myself and provide you knowledge of my conservation services and conservation
philosophy, as well as other areas of support I may be able to offer.
Art Conservation falls into three
categories, prevention, treatment, and technical studies. Preserving
works of art requires a variety of skills and knowledge in such areas as
studio arts, history of technology, art history, and sciences. The conservator
must also understand the chemical and physical properties of the materials
that are used on the work of art or in contact with it so that no harm is done
when the artwork is deteriorating, the conservator must make a proper
diagnosis of the problem in order to correct the problem and prolong the life
of the object.
Being thoroughly knowledgeable in the
use of old world art techniques, along with modern technologies, I am able to
implement the best possible solution for each individual project.
All my methods and materials are
employed in accordance with principals of the American Institute for
Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, and their Conservation principals
of reversibility, and with meticulous attention to detail and historical
correctness.
My professional interests reach far
beyond conservation and restoration work. I am also an accomplished artist who
works creating my own art, as well as an accredited fine art appraiser with
the American Society of Appraisers.
I strongly believe that conservation,
restoration, knowledge of the art market, research, analysis, and living art
are inseparable and complimentary to each other.
